Triad First In Families -- Volunteer Opportunities
Management Team
Triad First in Families is overseen by a volunteer Management Team, at least 50% of whom are disabled or family members of disabled individuals, and no more than 50% of whom are professionals and other interested individuals.
The primary responsibilities of the Management Team are to
- Design, review, and approve Chapter policy and oversee Chapter operations
- Assist in establishing and managing the Chapter budget
- Generate resources and pool knowledge to develop solutions for needs of applicants
- Support self determination and family support initiatives (give voice at state issues gatherings, and increase skills and networking capacities etc.)
- Represent First In Families to community (publicity, ambassadors/liaison and fundraising)
- Build community and agency relationships by increasing public awareness of FIF and family-centered practices
- Participate in FIFNC sponsored trainings and conventions
Clothing Closet Organization/Distribution
Triad First in Families has clothing donated by individuals and by Tradewinds Consignment Shop in King, North Carolina. This clothing is stored at The Children's Home. Volunteers are needed to sort and store clothing properly, and to distribute clothes to people who need them.
Delivery
We often have need of someone with a truck and a strong back to deliver donated items (furniture, appliances, therapeutic equipment, etc.). If you'd be willing to occasionally give us a hand, please let us know.
Dream Network
If you have clothing, household items, or other goods or services you'd be willing to donate to Triad First in Families, please join the Dream Network. We broadcast needs to this e-mail network, and if you have the needed items or can provide the needed services (or know anyone who might), you let us know.
Event Volunteers
We are planning two major events: the Twin City Arts Festival, November 15th and 16th, at the Millennium Center in Winston-Salem (see www.twincityartsfestival.com), and the 1st Annual Horse Show in spring/early summer of 2009. Volunteer opportunities will be available for both.
Fund Raising
If you would like to host a fundraising event, please let us know.
Holiday
If you, your church group, your family or any other group you belong to, would like to sponsor an individual with developmental disabilities, or a family, for Christmas, your efforts would be greatly appreciated.
To volunteer for any of these, or discuss other possible volunteer opportunities, please contact us at 724-1412, ext. 144 or e-mail tfif@youthopp.org.
